90th Anniversary
Sylvania turns 90!
In 1924, the Novelty Incandescent Lamp Company (Nilco) formed Sylvania Products Company to make receiving tubes
for radio. This was the first time the brand Sylvania was used and ever since it has been pioneering the development
of electrical products specifically lighting. Through our R&D centers across the world it has developed landmark
products in the lighting industry such as the linear fluorescent lamp in 1939 to the first halogen GU10 in 1997.
With our historic lighting history and our continued investment in our R&D centres and lighting technologies such as
LED, Sylvania looks forward to being at the forefront of the lighting industry for another 90 years!
